Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about the platform, Pro, and what to expect on your way into tech.

Getting started

What is NewRoleKit?

NewRoleKit is a structured career-learning platform that teaches you the skills you need to break into tech — without a degree, a bootcamp, or prior experience. Each role has a curated, linear track with short lessons and quiz-gated progress so you build real understanding, not just surface familiarity.

Who is NewRoleKit for?

NewRoleKit is built for career-changers, people returning to the workforce, and anyone curious about working in tech. If you're motivated but unsure where to start — or frustrated by random YouTube playlists and expensive bootcamps — this platform is for you.

Do I need a technical background to get started?

No. NewRoleKit is designed for complete beginners. Nothing assumes prior industry knowledge, a computer-science degree, or any coding ability. Tracks start from first principles and build up systematically from there.

What's the difference between the free tier and Pro?

The first two topics in every track are always free — no account required, no credit card. Free accounts also save your progress to the cloud across devices. Pro unlocks every topic across all career tracks and adds bootcamp features: structured deliverables, capstone projects, and interview drills.

Learning & tracks

How do quizzes work?

At the end of each lesson a short quiz checks your understanding before unlocking the next topic. Retakes are unlimited — the goal is genuine comprehension, not a pass/fail gate. You move on when you actually get it, not when you've just scrolled to the bottom.

Is my progress saved automatically?

Yes. Guest progress is saved in your browser's local storage and persists across visits on the same device. When you create a free account and sign in, progress syncs to the cloud and follows you across all your devices automatically.

Can I use NewRoleKit on my phone?

Yes. NewRoleKit is fully responsive and works on any modern mobile browser. Lessons and quizzes are designed to be readable and interactive on small screens — so you can study on your commute, on your lunch break, or anywhere else.

How long does a track take to complete?

Most tracks are roughly 4–6 hours of reading and quizzes end-to-end. At a comfortable pace — one or two topics per day — you can finish in a few weeks without it feeling overwhelming. You set the pace; there are no deadlines.

Account & Pro

What features are included in Pro?

Pro gives you unlimited access to every topic across all career tracks, plus the full bootcamp layer: structured deliverables for each module, capstone projects you can add to a portfolio, and targeted interview drills for your chosen role. The first two topics of every track are always free so you can try before you commit.

How much does Pro cost?

Pro is $18 per month, or $144 per year — which works out to $12 per month and saves you two months compared to paying monthly. Both plans include everything Pro has to offer; there are no hidden add-ons.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes. If you're not satisfied within the first 7 days of a paid subscription, contact us and we'll issue a full refund — no questions asked. We want you to feel confident trying Pro, not locked in.

Career outcomes

What career outcomes can I realistically expect?

NewRoleKit gives you the foundational knowledge and structured practice that hiring managers look for in junior candidates. Graduates have gone on to land roles in product management, UX research, data analysis, and technical project coordination. Results depend on effort, networking, and the job market — but you'll finish with a solid knowledge base and portfolio work you can point to in interviews.

How long until I'm ready to apply for jobs?

Most learners who complete a full track and the bootcamp layer feel ready to start applying within 8–12 weeks of focused study. That timeline assumes consistent daily practice of around 30–60 minutes. Some people move faster; others take longer — the platform adjusts to your pace.

Do employers recognise NewRoleKit certificates?

NewRoleKit is a newer platform, so our certificates are still building recognition compared to older providers. What carries more weight with employers is the portfolio work and demonstrated knowledge you gain — bootcamp deliverables give you concrete examples to discuss in interviews, which employers value more than credentials alone.
